Environmentalism is a Religion not a Science

The most cost effective way to reduce CO2 emissions right now is switch coal fired power plants to natural gas and build new gas plants while we wait for a new generation of nuclear plants to come online.

According to an editorial in the Aug. 24th Forbes the cost per ton of CO2 for switching a coal plant to gas is only $20/ton. The cost of government subsidies for electric car cost the taxpayers $250/ton. The cost of the cash for clunker program is $1,700/ton. Crazy so we spend money on clunkers and not a cent to convert coal plants to natural gas.

  1. Dennis Deckard Says:

It is about control. Rhetoric about environmental concerns, “just look at that smokestack belching carbon into the atmosphere…we’re all gonna die…dirty air and acid rain…”, plays very well in the media.

    T. Boone Pickens thinks we should all be driving cars fueled by natural gas. That is so much trouble, and would be a major change that folks don’t want. Would there be a cylinder exchange at the former gas station?…because average folks couldn’t handle the filling procedure…state certifications would be required.

They talk about having a filling station in your garage, supposing you have nat. gas in your home, but maybe not, especially in rural areas.

I don’t buy their religion. Drill here and create jobs for Americans. It will make our fuel more affordable and fix the foreign trade imbalance. Ah…remembering those folks that mostly hate us in the oil emirates…
