[...] Dad is blogging (When it absolutely, positively needs to get to Siberia!) about a shipment he is making to Siberia using the world’s largest cargo plane.
Ian:
It cost about $500K for 250,000lbs. As it turns out the plane is not at full load so Houston can handle it. They are loading right now and will leave tomorrow morning.

[...] 225_A Image by alexmuse Ever needed to ship half a million pounds of electronics to Siberia overnight? Don’t bother calling FedEx (they won’t be able to help), your only option is to charter the world’s largest cargo plane, the Antonov An-225. When my team at I/O needed to ship 250,000 lbs. of seismic systems to Tyumen, Siberia in a hurry, we chartered the Antonov, originally built by the Soviets. When I was in the Navy I had an occasion to ride in the back of C5-A (on my way home from Viet Nam), this plane is even larger, you can bet I won’t be taking a ride on this one. http://www.museconsulting.com/2006/10/23/need-to-get-a-shipment-…; [...]

I would love to know how much it costs to charter that! Also, where does it take off from if Houston cannot handle it?
